Documentation projects, for all reference - 5 months ago, 37 comments
Hi all; for most of us know, some of us ( including me ) is doing rather How-to or some other documentation.. anyway this documentation is scattered everywhere, some is on personal webs, etc2.. so i would like to ask, that we collect all those links/docs to be centralised and can be some point/centre of reference in docs.. long time ago we can see it in drb-it, and other places written by our frens/enthusiast.. Even if some of us maybe didn't want to be grouped, or written it at the same host/place blablabla ( possibly because of some reason, maybe ) it's ok for us to list the links to the docs/site for reference... just my idea and suggestion TQ -- # uname -a NetBSD 5.0 NetBSD 5.0 (GENERIC) #0: Sun Apr 26 18:50:08 UTC 2009 bui...@...:/home/builds/ab/netbsd-5-0-RELEASE/i386/200904260229Z-obj/home/builds/ab/netbsd-5-0-RELEASE/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC i386

yup, another flame bait. freshly baked from pcworld. original full article link:www.pcworld.com/article/204883/microsoft_claims_silverlight_beats_html5.html most notable (which i found funny) silverlight is valuable for business/enterprise applications, premium media experiences, and consumer applications and games, becker said.hmmm... remember activex anyone? "the media features of silverlight are far beyond what html5 will provide and work consistently in users' current and future browsers," becker said. silverlight offers advantages in such areas as high-definition video, content protection, 3-d video, and smooth streaming, said becker.well, that's a surprise "html5 and css 3 are going to make this worse for a while as the specs are new and increase the surface area of features that may be implemented differently. in contrast, since we develop all implementations of silverlight, we can ensure that it renders the same everywhere," said becker.everywhere with windows and .net? "for html5 to be really targetable, the spec has to stabilize, browsers have to all implement the specs in the same way and over a billion people have to install a new browser or buy a new device or machine. that's going to take a while. and by the time html5 is broadly targetable, silverlight will have evolved significantly. meanwhile, silverlight is here now and works in all popular browsers and operating systems," becker said. i didn't know html5 is a resource hog and that hard to implement, awww, but i don't seem to remember seeing any silverlight apps anywhere too.ya, works in all popular browsers (where?) with some "simple" plugin installation? regards,cl chow"please do not send me microsoft office/apple iwork documents. send opendocument instead! http://fsf.org/campaigns/opendocument/"

after weeks of playing with wowza/fms/cakephp/java, i manage to run a very basic framework on how to develop services like ustream,justin.tv. read the story here -> http://azrilnazli.blogspot.com/2010/09/beta-test-stream-your-life.htmlthe drawback, cost of wowza is almost 1k usd ( but the features are limitlesss )tools used- cakephp 1.3 framework with acl / user management / stream management ( wish i can do this on ror 3 )- xampplite for windows - notepad ++ for main editor- mysql database- flowplayer flash player- jquery- linux / windows server- java / wowza ide - wowza free developer edition with secure rtmp, mysql db logging, secure stream publishing, anti hotlinking..and many things that yet to be implemented ( my java knowledge limits me )summarythis project is fun since i need to open back my java book for some custom modules development. the hard part is to syncronise cakephp user database and wowza secure rtmp publishing ( which asking for username/password before one can start publishing ). took me 2-3 weeks before i can write a simple portal to test all basic features ( user auth, acl, logging, streaming etc )azril nazliputrajaya
